Food Science Mini-Lecture: Plastic packaging in the food industry

We all know that our society relies too heavily on plastic packaging. This is also true of the food industry. In this mini-lecture, we will explore the characteristics that make plastic such an attractive packaging material for extending the shelf-life of food. We will also explore how scientific innovations are helping the food industry shift to bio-based packaging materials and to develop tools to improve biodegradation of packaging materials.
