How many applications can I make at the same time?
If you are applying directly to Carleton, you may apply to a single entry term with a choice of two programs. If you are applying through OUAC, you may apply to three Ontario universities/programs with the base application fee. You can add more program choices for an additional cost.
How do I know that my application is complete and is being assessed?
Once we receive your application, we will send you an acknowledgement email. You can monitor the status of your application in Carleton360. Please note that applications will be assessed only once the application fee has been paid and all required documents have been received.
When will I receive my response?
We recommend applying early, and supplying your documents as soon as they are available. We operate using rolling admissions for most programs – the sooner you get us your documents, the sooner you’ll get an assessment. It can take several weeks from the time we receive all your documents until the time you get a decision, depending on the time of year. Monitor your application closely in Carleton360 to see document requests and view decisions.
What if my documents are not in pdf format?
You can use Adobe Acrobat to convert any documents to PDFs as well as decrease their size (maximum file size is 2 megabytes).
Do I send my own documents, or does my school?
You can start by uploading copies of your school transcripts/grades. We will use these unofficial documents for your initial assessment. Final official transcripts must be received from your school when they are available. You can upload any requested English language test scores directly to Carleton360.
What are the prerequisites for my program?
Admission prerequisites for each program can be found here.
Is the order of programs on my application important?
Yes. Because Carleton issues only one offer, if you satisfy the admissions requirements of your first choice program, you will receive an offer for this program. We will let you know if you are eligible (admissible) to your other choices.
What if I don’t get admitted into my program?
For secondary students that don’t meet the admission requirements of a program, Admissions will wait to receive updated grades, in case there is an improvement in your admission average. We may also issue an alternate offer for a related program for which you meet the admissions requirements.
Is the application fee refundable?
The application fee is non refundable.
When should I apply for my study permit/visa?
Documentation required for a study permit application is included in our offers of admission. For guidance on study permit applications and visas, our Carleton immigration advisors are happy to help.
