Free study permit application support with BorderPass
Carleton University has partnered with BorderPass to provide incoming international students with free study permit application support during their first year.
BorderPass is a secure, nationally recognized service designed to help you submit your study permit application as efficiently and accurately as possible, supporting a smooth transition to your studies in Canada. Through BorderPass, you can access Canadian immigration lawyers who support the preparation and review of study permits, visas and related documents.
What is included with BorderPass?
With your free one-year subscription, Carleton offer holders can access:
- one year of access beginning before you start your program at Carleton
- guidance from Canadian immigration lawyers as you prepare your study permit application
- application review before submission to help improve accuracy and completeness

Getting started is simple. Create a free account on the BorderPass website to begin using the service.
Is BorderPass free for Carleton students?
Yes. Newly admitted international students entering a full-time program at Carleton University receive a free one-year BorderPass subscription during their first year.
This includes:
- support with your study permit application
- guidance from Canadian immigration lawyers
Please note that students are responsible for any government study permit or visa application and processing fees and biometrics fees, if required. BorderPass also offers additional services that can be purchased on demand.
