💬 Bio: I graduated with a Bachelor of Global and International Studies from Carleton. Now, I am continuing at Carleton with my master’s degree in International Affairs. I decided to study at Carleton for my undergrad because of its location in Canada’s capital and the various job opportunities in the federal government. While applying to post-secondary school, I wish I knew more about the various supports at Carleton, for example the Awards and Financial Aid Office.

💬 Bio: Coming from a small town, the nature around campus reminded me of home, but I also liked that downtown Ottawa was only ten minutes away when I wanted the city energy. Carleton has international internships, alternative spring breaks and semester-abroad options. Programs are also flexible. You could do a combined honours program: so double majoring while also having a concentration and a minor. Choosing Carleton has turned out to be one of the best choices I’ve made. It feels like the right mix of opportunity, community and growth.

💬 Bio: Carleton allowed me to stay close to home while figuring out what I wanted to study. I started my journey in the Bachelor of Arts Undeclared program. Decisions aren’t final, and there is always room to grow and explore! During my time with an undeclared major, I got to try out many different programs and explore all that Carleton has to offer. I’ve learned how many resources we have and that reaching out and asking questions will be the best tool in your journey.

💬 Bio: Carleton has one of the strongest architecture and Co-op programs in the country, and the diverse student population made it feel like a place I belong. I’ve been involved on campus through part-time jobs, residence and academic events. These experiences have helped me connect with the community, develop new skills and grow both personally and professionally. There are always people and resources at Carleton that can help guide you. Carleton has truly given me the chance to challenge myself, meet inspiring people and feel at home in a supportive environment.

💬 Bio: As a first-generation university student, moving away from home to study was both exciting and challenging. I wanted a program and community that would encourage me to grow academically while still feeling connected to my roots. Joining Carleton’s competitive women’s volleyball team was a great way for me to adjust to life in Ottawa. There are so many supports available for Indigenous and first-generation students. Studying Anthropology is a way to better understand people, cultures and communities, while also reflecting on my own identity and experiences as an Inuk woman.

💬 Bio: Carleton has a welcoming environment that focuses on student success! Being in the capital of Canada is an ideal location. I am a student-athlete and wanted to continue being a competitive horseback rider. Joining the Carleton Equestrian Team allowed me to ride while away at university. I have met some of the very best people, including my closest friends and valued academic connections. If you have questions or need support, Carleton is always here to help. 💬 Bio: I was curious to learn more about coding so I started exploring different coding languages and asking my counsellors for advice. Talking with Carleton professors and students made the program feel really welcoming and exciting. The campus is so green, right next to the canal, and there are lots of cosy study spots and coffee shops. The tunnels also make it super easy to get around in winter. The Carleton community is so supportive. It’s the perfect place to grow both academically and personally.

💬 Bio: Choosing which university to go to was arguably the most important decision I have made so far. I truly could not have made a better choice. Everyone is anxious for this new adventure and to make new friends, but everyone is in it together. Carleton is a really special place, and I have not met a single person who is not willing to help someone in need, whether that is giving directions or helping with studying. I found my home here with the people I met, and you can too!

💬 Bio: Carleton’s campus has a lot of green spaces, a great English and Creative Writing program and it’s in Ottawa! As an international student, I wanted to live and study in a city that was calm and allowed me to transition to university in a stable environment. I talked to an undergraduate student who told me about student life. Carleton offers many clubs, supports and events — I’d recommend getting involved right away. I am an exec for the Poetics Society and a Residence Fellow.

💬 Bio: The opportunities to learn and experience Canadian politics in the nation’s capital are truly unmatched. I was initially hesitant about moving away from home, but I quickly realized that the community and environment would make the transition worth it. An information session not only prepared me for the move, but it also helped convince my parents that Carleton was the right choice. There are so many resources available to applicants. From admissions staff to academic advisors, everyone is genuinely willing to answer questions and guide you through the process.

💬 Bio: The appeal of learning how to write in a journalistic style, while also learning how to analyze old texts and write research papers on topics I am passionate about made this unique degree the one for me. I have had pieces published, spoken with CEOs, politicians and activists, and learned from some of the most talented journalists in Canada.

💬 Bio: Choosing a university was exciting, but also difficult. There were so many options in terms of programs, and trying to picture myself somewhere for the next four years felt impossible. Attending the Ontario University Fair, although online at the time, really helped me. Listening to the professors and different information sessions about resources on campus helped inform my decision. Ultimately, the Carleton community, the beautiful campus and the many various supports offered won me over.

💬 Bio: I came to Carleton because it had the program I wanted to attend the most but when deciding the atmosphere was a huge part of the decision! I absolutely love the campus, how close together everything is, and how we’re both so close to nature and the city! My mom and one of my best friends came with me on the decision trip, where we toured the campuses, and it was so helpful! In the end, I gathered all the information I’d learned and just put it in a pros and cons list! But really, it was off vibes that I chose Carleton; this list was really just a way of making that choice seem more concrete!

💬 Bio: I came to Carleton because it offered the perfect program encompassing all my interests, as well as a beautiful campus, especially in the fall. I connected with welcoming professors and upper-year students from my program and got a better sense of what to expect in my first year. The campus has a homey feeling, and the beautiful canal definitely convinced me. Make sure to research scholarships and bursaries. It is important to have financial stability at university, and Carleton’s Awards and Financial Aid Office is amazing.
