Bachelor of Social Work: Supplementary Application Instructions

(Fall 2026)

The deadline to apply for the Bachelor of Social Work is March 1, 2026.

The deadline to submit the supplementary application is March 5, 2026. No late submissions will be accepted.

Note that these instructions are for supplementary information only. To be considered for admission, you must submit an application and all necessary documents through Admissions Services.

Supplementary Application submission

You will be able to access the supplementary application once Carleton has received your application to the Bachelor of Social Work.

To access the supplementary application:

  1. Log in to Carleton360 using your MyCarletonOne (MC1) credentials.
    Instructions for setting up your MC1 account are available on the I’ve Applied to Carleton: Applicant Information page.
  2. Select Applications from the left-hand menu.
  3. Locate your Bachelor of Social Work application under Submitted Applications and click the + sign.
  4. Scroll down to the application checklist and click Supplementary App.

Please take note of the following:

  • You can only submit the supplementary application once.
  • Complete all the sections as per the instructions.
  • You can save your work and return later to complete your submission.
  • After you submit the supplementary application, a copy will be emailed to you.

Supplementary Application requirements

An applicant’s supplementary application includes:

  1. Admissions essay (500 words max.)
    How do your life experiences connect to society at large and how have they shaped your interest in studying social work at Carleton University?
  2. Optional essay submission (250-500 words max.)
    Explaining any circumstances that may have impacted your academic performance or work experience.
  3. Resume
    You may include relevant:
    • Paid work experience*
    • Unpaid/volunteer experience*
    • Supervised placements, co-ops or practicums*
    • Certificates, licenses and trainings
    • Other community or school involvement

      *You will be asked to include the dates worked and number of hours and/or number of weeks worked.
  4. Self-Identification form (optional)
    You will have the opportunity to self-identify as a member of an equity-deserving group.
