Requirements
Carleton University welcomes applicants for undergraduate studies from a wide variety of educational backgrounds.
High School Applicants
The following links provide prerequisite courses and portfolios necessary for admission to undergraduate degree programs. Specific prerequisites are defined for each provincial secondary school system.
High School Applicants (Canadian)
- Current Ontario High School Students
- Ontario High School Graduates
- Canadian High School Students (outside Ontario and Quebec)
AB, BC, MB, NB, NL, NT, NS, NU, PE, SK, YT
- Quebec: CEGEP Students
- International Baccalaureate Students
- Advanced Placement
Applicants who have completed AP exams with a minimum grade of 4 will be granted appropriate advanced standing credit, subject to the discretion of the appropriate faculty, to a maximum of 3.0 credits

Applicants
Mature Applicants
Applicants who do not meet the normal admission requirements may be eligible to apply if they meet specific conditions listed in the Undergraduate Calendar. The following links provides prerequisite courses and portfolios necessary for admission to specific degree programs: Prerequisite Subjects.
Home-schooled Applicants
Home-schooled students applying to Carleton are required to provide official evidence of academic achievement in secondary education. Applicants must meet program specific requirements including the prerequisites, and may be required to provide proof of language proficiency. See the link below for details.
Required Averages
An overall average of at least 70% is normally required to be considered for admission. Some programs require specific course prerequisites and/or supplementary admission portfolios. Higher averages are required for admission to programs for which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the number of places available.
