Program Details
This innovative program builds on traditional science disciplines and incorporates data science, policy, public science and science communication through experiential learning and addressing current critical issues.
Integrate concepts from scientific disciplines and apply them to real-world problems through local and global perspectives. Balance specialized technical knowledge with critical thinking and problem solving, science communication and teamwork.
Multidisciplinary Approach
Complete eight interdisciplinary science courses and one minor, which ensures you have a demonstrated depth of knowledge in a scientific field that is recognized on your degree.
Work Experience
A Co-op option is available. Co-op is the opportunity to get a head start on a career. Co-op work terms allow for the development of key employability skills, exploration of career options and graduation with tangible, workplace experience.
You’ll also participate in an academic Capstone experience involving interactions with outside organizations such as federal government agencies and NGOs.

ISAP 1001 - Introduction to Interdisciplinary Science
What is interdisciplinarity and what are the challenges and opportunities of collaboration within and across disciplines in science and beyond? Topics include types of biases, public datasets and science communication.
ISAP 3003 - Science Communication
How is science perceived and how has science been communicated? Students will use case studies to assess examples of science communication with varying outcomes. Topics include the principles of effective science communication, the range of tools available, and knowing the audience.
