Program Summary

Applied Physics is the basis of modern technology, including modern telecommunications, photonics, computer technology, medical imaging and cancer therapies.

Our Honours Applied Physics program combines studies in modern physics, optics and electronics, math and computer science. As part of your requirements for this program, you may also opt to take courses in finance, organizational management and entrepreneurship, and earn a minor in Business in addition to your Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Applied Physics.

The Carleton Advantage

You can study Physics as your Honours subject (with Astrophysics, Experimental, or Theory streams) or in combination with Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics. A Double Honours Mathematics and Physics program is available for theoretically inclined students.

Physicists are passionate about studying nature at its most fundamental level to explain observed natural phenomena, as well as to predict and search for new phenomena not yet observed.

In the Applied Physics (Honours) program, your studies will incorporate modern physics, optics and electronics, mathematics and computer science.

A professionally-accredited Engineering Physics (BEng) program is also available
