Vicky Tran is a Junior Policy Analyst in the Education Branch at Indigenous Services Canada. This job entails working on strategic policy and planning in the area of education, as well as supporting engagement initiatives, building working relationships with First Nations partners and collaborating with team members in education policy development.

Carleton’s Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management prepares students to be effective in accessing, debating, deciding, implementing and evaluating public policies. Studying Public Affairs and Policy Management provided Vicky Tran with relevant skills and knowledge, as well as the opportunity to participate in co-operative education in federal government departments.

The program’s structure taught me how to look at a particular issue from multiple perspectives and discipline areas. I developed critical analysis skills, good writing, the ability to research, and an understanding of the policy process, all of which framed and supported the work I did in all my professional positions. The program also allowed me to take up a minor in Communication and Media Studies as well as enroll in co-op.
