Athletics
Stay fit for life
It is important to live a balanced life, and that includes exercising your body as well as your mind. Our Department of Recreation and Athletics offers a variety of programs, facilities and sports teams to suit every level of fitness.
Take advantage of our facilities
As a Carleton student, you can take full advantage of our first-class athletic facilities, conveniently located in one area of campus. You can sign up for a fitness class, swim laps in the pool, lift weights in the fitness centre, run on a treadmill in the cardio room or just get together with friends to play one of your favourite sports during open recreation time.
A variety of ways to stay active
A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, so why not try one of our intramural leagues? Getting in shape shouldn’t be a chore, so have fun and invigorate your body with one of our many fitness programs.
With over 130 exciting classes offered each week, as well as a variety of sport and recreational opportunities, there’s something for everyone!
For a complete listing of all the classes and programs offered, visit carleton.ca/athletics.
Go Ravens!
For such small birds, Ravens are certainly mighty. Year in and year out, the Carleton Ravens have dominated their opponents. Our men’s basketball team, for example, has won eight of the past ten national championships. Are you interested in proudly donning the Raven for one of our varsity teams? Visit goravens.ca for the latest information on the Ravens, including tryout dates and coaches’ contact information.
Even if you don’t play on a team, the Ravens still need you! Get decked out in red and black and be the Ravens’ “sixth man.” Crank up the noise level and be part of the unbeatable atmosphere at our home games.
Coming Soon
The future looks bright for Carleton Athletics. We have a number of things to look forward to in the coming years:
New Fitness Centre
In February 2012, Carleton students voted in favour of an athletics fee increase that will give them access to a new 11,000 square-foot fitness centre and new equipment. Construction is expected to be complete in Spring 2013.
Football Reborn
Ravens varsity football is returning to Carleton in Fall 2013. Planning is underway for both the design and construction of new football facilities and stadium upgrades on campus.
CIS Final 8
The men’s basketball national championship tournament returns to Scotiabank Place in 2014, when the host Carleton Ravens look to extend the all-time title record.
