Another Semester Flies By!

Wow, how is it the end of the semester already?! The second half of any school year always seems to fly by. My third year at Carleton has definitely been amazing. I feel more and more passionate about what I am studying and have a much better idea about my career goals and where I see myself in the future. I have learned a lot of important lessons this year, including the importance of networking... Read more

Reading Week and Course Overloads

The fact that the middle of the term is approaching is so unbelievable to me. Time flies, I suppose! This semester I have taken on a course overload of six classes. So far, it hasn’t been too time consuming. However, as I look at my to-do list, I’m getting a little anxious as many of the deadlines seem to be happening within days of each other in April. As such, my Reading Week will be... Read more

A Jar of Memories

I find that we often dwell on the negative experiences of a particular year and ignore the small but memorable highlights. After seeing an interesting post on Pinterest, I’ve chosen to start my 2013 off in a fairly neat way. In my kitchen sits a jar that I intend on filling with pieces of paper that note all of the good things that happen to me over the course of the year. At the end... Read more

Happy Holidays!

I honestly can’t believe that this semester is almost over! As I write this, I am still waiting to complete two exams. I know many, many people who have already finished their finals and have packed up and left for the holiday break. While I’m a little jealous, I am still incredibly happy to have made it through this semester! Though this time of the year can be a little difficult for myself and my... Read more

Technological Distractions

Hello, I hope everyone has had a wonderful school year so far! More and more I have been noticing the amount of electronic distractions that interfere with one-on-one communication. While I am certain I check my phone more than I should, I have tried to lessen this habit when in a conversation. It makes me laugh when I am on the bus or train and I see every single person staring down at their phone.... Read more

Trip to Alberta!

Very recently, my father and I spent some time in Alberta. It is the third province I’ve visited in Canada (Ontario obviously being the first and Quebec the second) and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life! We were lucky to visit stunning places such as Calgary, Horseshoe Canyon, Banff, Edmonton, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Red Deer and Jasper. Mountains were almost always in our view while traveling and it was amazing... Read more

Healthy Eating

It’s been quite a while since my last update! I apologize. I have decided to really dedicate myself to this blog considering how much positive feedback I have received so far. I appreciate it all! This Easter, I was unfortunately hospitalized due to a gallbladder attack. A gallbladder attack is about as enjoyable as it sounds. After being diagnosed with gallstones and an inflamed gallbladder, I was given the choice of staying at the hospital... Read more

Dealing with loss.

I am afraid that it has been much too long since I last updated my blog! These past three months have been the utmost difficult for my family. In early December my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and in early January she passed away. Dealing with my mother’s death has been the hardest thing I have ever faced. There are so many emotions that one experiences when dealing with the tragedy of losing a loved... Read more

My university experience (so far!)…

When you’re in high school, it feels like those four years will last forever. However, trust me, there is life after high school! University isn’t easy, not by a long shot. Papers usually trump sleep, and coffee usually trumps everything else. But you learn quickly that when you attend your classes, go to your tutorials, get help when you need it, do your readings and make an effort on assignments, it all adds up to... Read more

Some days, I put the ‘pro’ in ‘procrastination’

Procrastination is a horrible little thing. It grabs at your ankles, dragging you into the realm of Facebook-refreshing-every-2-seconds. “Come with me,” it whispers, “come with me and check your Twitter news feed one more time!” “No!” you scream, “how dare you ruin my already weak work ethic!” But before you know it, you’re on YouTube viewing cute kitten videos for the next two hours. Trust me, I’ve been there. I have been there multiple times.... Read more
