School’s out for the summer, yeah! My last exam lasted four hours and 30 minutes. It was a real tough Cognitive Science exam. The test covered a variety of topics including CGSC Frameworks, Mental Architectures, Artificial Neuron Networks (ANNs), Massive Modularity Hypothesis, and Fodorian Philosophical theories including the Language of Thought Hypothesis. I am exhausted, but personally satisfied with my efforts this year. PSYC 2500, Introduction to Developmental Psychology and CGSC 2001, Introduction to Cognitive... Read more

Hi everyone, I hope you have all been enjoying reading about my Carleton experience and the milestones I have achieved. Today I would like to share with you a little bit of the human side of my story. As you can see in my profile, I am a mature student of 51 years of age. I have seen it all, and have had some wonderful travel experiences abroad in Europe and the USA. But nothing... Read more

Hello everyone, I have been accepted into the Bachelor of Arts Honours in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Cognition and Psychology and a Minor in Psychology. I am so happy right now! The foot size of my baby steps now feels a bit bigger. Remember everyone, set your goals within the concept of the short term. I have the Department of Psychology and the Institute of Cognitive Science to thank for helping me and... Read more

Hello everyone, I have successfully returned to my studies at Carleton. This term all my courses are in the evening, which suits me fine. I also tend to be more attentive in the evening which helps. I am enrolled in my first Cognitive Science course (Introduction to Cognitive Science) this semester and it has been very interesting so far! I highly recommend Cognitive Science courses for anyone interested in Psychology, Philosophy, Anthropology or Linguistics. The... Read more

An update re: Winter 2012 Term Study Update Hello everyone and happy New Year to my friends and colleagues on campus. It’s been more than two months since my last blog update due to an illness that required a hospital stay. While I kept up my studies until the end of October, I ended up having to drop my Fall 2011 courses as a result of my illness. The campus doctors were great and the... Read more

Hi folks, I hope all is going well with your studies. It has been a month since my last blog update and much has happened on my end. I have been to every lecture this term – it is important to go to lectures as sometimes attendance can count for close to 30 percent of your final mark. Just a refresher, I take a 40 percent course load and I have been on campus now... Read more

Dear fellow students, I’m officially a 2nd year student of Psychology at Carleton and I am happy to report that my classes have been going great so far! I have started work on my first essay for Psych 2003. I will discuss the contribution of the Horsley-Clarke Stereotactic Instrument. It is a device for intra-cranial pathology that permits the accuracy of a 3D Cartesian coordinate system for fundoscopic examination of the brain. My professor says... Read more

Dear readers, I am back on Campus today for my first lecture in Psych 2003-A History of Psychology in Modern Times. Everything went smoothly but on Saturday when picking up my U-Pass, I had a wee accident with my wheel chair while negotiating a turn in a tunnel at an excessive rate of speed (I managed to break off a foot rest). This reminds me of a quote from a specialist at Canada Care Medical,... Read more

Dear readers, I have decided to take three evening courses for the 2011-2012 academic year (instead of two). I had to change things a bit as my original course selection had me on campus four days a week. So now I can sleep in a bit! I can leave from home via Para-Transpo at 4:30 p.m. and from campus at 9:00 p.m. The old schedule was much too time consuming (travel wise). It will probably... Read more

Dear fellow students, I’m proud to say that I am commencing my second academic year at Carleton this Fall. I take two half-credit courses per term. This year I will be studying a selection of electives including: History 1001 and Philosophy 1600, both of which are full-credit classes. I am hoping that taking a History of Europe class will lend itself well to the years I spent in Germany as a youth. But seriously folks,... Read more
