Why did you choose Carleton?
I chose Carleton because it seemed like my best option for post secondary education! The beautiful campus and great scholarships seemed enticing enough to study here. Ottawa is a safe city to live in and isn’t intimidating whatsoever. So far my Carleton experience has been amazing and I have met so many fantastic people.
Why do you recommend Carleton to prospective students?
Carleton has so much variety in academic options, you really can’t lose. The professors here are some of the nicest people I have ever met and they really do want to help you succeed. Living in Ottawa is a great – there is always somewhere to go or something to do! Living in the Capital also leads to awesome job opportunities, regardless of your major.
What are your post-graduate plans?
I plan to hopefully enter the entertainment industry as a television producer or writer!
Where is your favourite place to hang out on campus?
I love hanging out at the Page Break (cafe in the Library) or even just people watching in the Quad!
What is/are your favourite thing(s) about Carleton?
Carleton has awesome professors and incredibly passionate teaching assistants. The resources available at Carleton help to give you the best academic experience possible. The people are super friendly too!
What is/are your favourite thing(s) about Ottawa?
There are so many great cafes and restaurants here! My personal favourite is Kettleman’s Bagels, a fantastic bagel shop where the majority of my study sessions in first year took place. The ByWard Market and the Glebe are wonderful places to visit all year round! Ottawa is just a fabulous city to live in when you’re a student.
What is the most interesting class you have taken at Carleton?
So far the majority of my introductory courses have been great. I loved my introductory Women and Gender Studies course and I hope to pursue it as a minor!
Who is your favourite Carleton professor and why?
Bill Skidmore, without a doubt. He is such a wonderful and passionate professor and knows exactly how to keep a class fresh and interesting. I totally recommend taking any of his human rights classes.
