The Application Process

1

Check application deadlines and requirements

CEGEP applicants who have successfully completed 12 pre-university courses will be considered for admission to first year, without any advanced standing. CEGEP applicants who have successfully completed more than 12 pre-university courses will be considered for admission with advanced standing based on the number of courses in excess of 12 and not to exceed 5.0 transfer credits. All applicants should note that failures in their CEGEP studies can adversely affect their admissibility.

The general application deadline for fall admission (September to December) is June 1, 2024. Please note, some programs have earlier application deadlines.

Notes:

The deadline to apply for winter admission (January to April) is November 15, 2023. Only a limited number of programs permit entry in the winter term. Please see the January Admissions webpage for program availability.

5

Accept your offer of admission and confirm residence

If you receive an offer of admission and wish to accept, you must do so by the date indicated on your offer letter in order to reserve your space in the program.

To accept your offer of admission, go to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre website.

If you are admitted to first or second-year studies directly from CEGEP on or before May 17, 2024 you will be offered a place in residence.

If you received a first-year guaranteed offer of residence and would like to reserve your place, you must:

  • accept your offer of admission to Carleton University;
  • wait for your application status on Carleton 360 to display “Applicant Acceptance”;
  • confirm your offer of residence and pay the residence deposit on Carleton Central by June 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (ET); and
  • complete the Residence Information Form.

Students receiving a residence offer must make their deposit online by June 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (ET) or they will lose their guaranteed space in residence.

Students coming into first year who have not been offered guaranteed residence can still apply here: housing.carleton.ca/students-entering-first-year-studies. Applications will be considered and spaces will be offered in waitlist order, as they become available.

It’s important to remember that most offers of admission are conditional. Make sure to review the information on how to maintain your conditional offer of admission.

Once you accept your offer of admission, the next thing to do is plan your registration.
