I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and was able to spend time with family and friends! It’s definitely game time again as a new semester begins. I am going to try my best to stay on top of things throughout the term. Procrastination can be my worst enemy at times, especially at the start of a brand new semester as I feel like there is nothing to study for as classes have all just began. But this time around, I keep telling myself, “Oh, but there is!” I am taking some demanding courses this semester, including Object-Oriented Software Engineering and Foundations of Information Systems. There are many small assignments throughout the term for these courses and most are team-oriented. Group assignments can be a bit more challenging to balance. I think the key here is to start early and meet at least once a week to work on segments of the projects together. I’m pretty excited about the Software Engineering course. We are going to be using the agile model-driven approach to software development (which I have already had some industry experience working with during my last co-op term). It’s good to learn best practices and skills prior to applying them in the workplace, but it’s also quite neat to be able to learn something from doing it in the workplace and then seeing how it is taught back in academia. Many things will be familiar and I think I’ll really enjoy the class and team projects.

I have classes bright and early every single day of the week. This, however, shouldn’t be an issue as I got pretty used to waking up early last term while working a 9 to 5 job. I am really excited to be back on campus, especially with all of the new renovations in the UniCenter’s Food Court! Oh Soup Bar, how I have missed you!
