Its official, the first semester of the 2011/2012 year is almost over! The Christmas season is upon us and there is a certain happiness in the air around campus. Although project deadlines are looming and final exams are fast approaching, it’s also time to celebrate and have a little fun.

Many students will be going home to visit their families for the holidays and getting some needed relaxation. Here are some tips I have come up with on how to stay on top of your school work while still having the fun this holiday season.

Do all of your assignments ahead of the scheduled deadlines. This way you will have time to review your work and relax in between deadlines.
If you find that you’re easily distracted in your residence room/apartment, go to the library to study/work on assignments (or even book a study room in the library).
Get your notes together for studying and start to prepare for final exams early.
Show up to your final exams on-time and prepared.
Book flights, buses, or other means of transportation ahead of time to ensure you are home in time for the holidays.
When buying Christmas gifts, set a reasonable limit for yourself. Remember, you’re a student with a lot of expenses and your family will understand.
Sell any textbooks you no longer need/or want at the bookstore.
Enjoy yourself and have a happy holiday!
