Making the most of your time at Carleton!
Hey Everyone!
I can’t believe that the semester is almost over! There are only a couple more weeks left of school and then exams will be here – the time just flew by.
I wanted to start out this blog post with a little update. This year I have been involved in the Carleton University South Asian Alliance dance team as an executive member and spirit coordinator. Recently, we went on a trip to Toronto to compete against 13 other Canadian universities. There were 100 spirit squad members that went to cheer for the Carleton dance team. Each university was judged on their spirit during a one minute spirit cheer as well as a 10 minute dance performance. Overall, Carleton won seven awards including best spirit, best classical, best Bollywood, best theme, best costumes, best intro scene and 2nd place overall! It was definitely nice to see all of our hard work be recognized. All in all, it was an amazing weekend and we definitely made a name for Carleton! Below are some pictures of the awards that we won!

I truly believe that in order to get the most out of your time at Carleton (or any university), you should participate in extracurricular activities! It is a great way to meet new people, make new friends and, in some cases, gain relevant real-world experience. Best of all, it doesn’t hurt to put on your resume! One easy way to get involved on campus is to join your faculty’s student association. For example, since I am a student in the Sprott School of Business, I like to attend events hosted by the Sprott Student Business Society. The SBSS holds a number of events including the Business Gala which is coming up very soon. This will be my first year attending and I am very excited!
